Shadow

Come forth and follow me my friend,

Over the sun lit day

Stand by me and cast your way

through the passing of day and the following of night.

Remain close or stretch about before or behind,

Marking my temporary way on the paths of life wanderings

Grow with me as I grow

Charting my passing in this world

From the first sunny days that I tottered over lawns

To Laboured steps in the Autumn of my life

Stick with me and although you are darkness

Know that you are made from light

Shape and distort my human form

Make me the monster I sometimes feel inside

And on days of blissful reminders

follow me as a child from earlier times

Savour the sunshine,

Cascade my shape in towns, cities and country

Cast it on Walls, grass and the concrete jungle

Let it be known I was here

So when the last rays of sunshine hit my face

and the last cast of breath escapes my lips

Be freed shadow to return to the light and dark place

that you once were born from
