The Garden

Its not too smart
Its not a chocolate box image
but the borders brim with odd purchases of plants
and in the mid of the day their heads bow and dance
The bees ferry between lilting flowers
carrying their harvests of yellow pollen
all through the summer till the hot suns forgotten
Vegetables are dotted amongst the formal plants
Like a patchwork of green and purple foliage
And odd seed heads emerge above the green
to break open and spread their seeds on this land
saving the gardener and his muddy hands
