Mum can we have a Ferret

After going to the town this morning with my two daughters and making the gross error of taking them to the local pet shop this inspired me for the following. Dont worry, the ferrets remained at the shop.

Wonderful,
the pet shop has new animals in
and my daughters face has the hugest of grins
does she show me the birds, the fish or a rabbit
Oh No!
she shows me these rather cute ferrets
Can we have one, can we get one
I promise I will be good
and all I have is mental images
of it chewing through the wood,
that makes up the floor, the doors and the stairs
and leaves wee little parcels to catch you unawares.
Oh please I promise to feed it and clean,
and all I imagine are its shiny teeth
that after the first nip will be left in my care
Just me and the ferret and ferrety scented air!
Its hard enough being a single mum
without the joy of a ferret making me glum
and whilst they are rather sweet with their stoat like looks
I have a feeling it doesnt go down well in my books!
